Suggesting an alternative route

Thanks Brett and Sofa Jockey.
You'll need to use OS Maps or another route making platform to create your routes and their GPX files. Slow Ways does not have another way to share routes on the website at the moment.
We do list a few options here. I hope this helps. Please do us know here the solution you've use?

I'm using the OS maps app to do that and successfully made a GPX file and posted it as a new route. https://osmaps.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/
I had tried a 'free' site (AllTrails) but their GPX files were treated as 'corrupt' by the Slow Ways site.
I'm sure there are other GPX generators (paid and unpaid) but I haven't seen a list and I don't know if they all work.
At least given the association of OS with Slow Ways I know that the OS site works.

Presume that you have an OS subscription, which therefore allows you to export .gpx files. As I mentioned that’s not possible when you buy the physical map and use the code provided with the map, to enable you to download the map to your phone., the option to export .gpx files is greyed out. Hence my reason in asking if there is another way to suggest an alternative route without have to upload a .gpx of your suggested route.

A Slow Ways person may chime in at some point, but I presume a GPX is used because it contains various data concerning terrain type and and altitude, so I'm expecting the answer will be no.
But I think the odds of finding a free GPX creator are good. Though the only free one I bumped into didn't work, I expect there are others.

Try using https://outdoorsgps.com/ The default map is just about OK for plotting a route and you can export a gpx file. If you want OS maps there's a subscription to pay. You can also import an existing route and modify it before saving.
