Bad GPX file
If the GPX file is very inaccurate in that it cuts corners, doesn't keep to paths or wanders across a river so it isn't clear exactly where to go, is there a way of being able to tidy it up or submit a more accurate GPX? This wouldn't be a new route, just a clearer version of the existing.

Thanks everyone. Ken is 100% right.
The strategy is for good ones to be well reviewed and rated so that they float to the top. The weaker routes will then sink to the bottom and could become archived or be removed.

Just submit a second route and give the original a low star review.

I think that many will be like this.
The routes have been creating is a 'Direct' setting, which means that the route follows way marker to way marker.
This gets corrected if the setting is changed to 'Walking' but it does mean that the route is longer. (I know this because I've downloaded my routes onto my PC and used Garmin BaseCamp to review them).
I haven't been able to perform a survey yet, but will experiment with both the 'Direct' and 'Walking' settings for routes and will report back.

Thanks both. I did as Ken Brockway suggested and submitted a second route. Hopefully these will get tidied up in time so that there isn't a proliferation of similar routes. The original was all over the place which was a bit confusing as it went back and forth across a river where there were no bridges - as there are paths on both sides it made it very unclear which way to go. Hopefully the gpx that I submitted is at least clear when overlaid on a map so the walker knows where to go.
