Tip: using Pathwatch app
Hi all, I just have a little tip to pass on in case it’s useful for people when you are out surveying or reviewing routes. I have downloaded an app called Pathwatch to my phone. It’s produced by the Ramblers. See here for detail https://www.ramblers.org.uk/advice/pathwatch-report-path-features-and-problems.aspx
To my surprise the app is super easy to use. Whilst on the walk I encountered a number of broken wooden footbridges on rights of way, and broken right of way signs, and rights of way that had been ploughed over, and missing signs. As well as noting down these problems for my Slow Ways survey, I was able to instantly report these issues using the Pathwatch app. I just had to do a few clicks and take a photo and bingo. Ramblers then collate all these reports and send them to the relevant local authorities.
It took me seconds to report each issue, and I think it seems like a worthwhile use of my time on the walk, alongside doing the Slow Ways survey. I’m sure I’m not the only one who’s finding missing and broken rights of way signs, ploughed fields, and so on!

That's excellent Fiona, thanks! I didn't know about this and the number of times I've grumbled about this and didn't know what to do with the info.
Now added to my phone.
