Birmingham to Alvechurch
I walked from Birmingham to Alvechurch on Saturday morning on a walk with some friends. I knew both start and finish were nodes so wondered if I could get a Slow Ways review in. As it is they are at two opposite ends of two triangles (a diamond!) and to travel between the two via Slow Ways would involve going via Longbridge or Wythall, neither of which are terribly direct. At 18km the walk came in at a shorter distance than an emergency Slow Way I'd devised for Hampshire on the previous day. The route (mainly via the Birmingham and Worcester Canal) is direct, offroad, very well served with shops and cafes (not to mention a university and a chocolate factory!) and beautiful. Could it be included? Or would it be a "Phase 2" development?

Hi David. Its a very good suggestion that seems to have some decent merits in terms of route quality. Looking at the networking around that area and with the idea of trying to avoid overlapping Slow Ways, I think it could be a Phase 2 development, especially if there's a sensible stopping point along the Longbridge to Wythall route that would provide a cross-roads N-S and W-E.
Thanks!
Andrew

I've just had a look at Lonwyt and the two paths cross in Wast Hills Lane, quiet enough, beside the University Farm, but not really an ideal meeting place. One to worry about for Phase 2! Thanks for your response.
