How I am scoring routes in reviews
I've managed to put into words how I score routes. I'm looking out for how well it fits the Slow Way philosophy but really look at if it could be any better. Is it well plotted? Could it have been more direct? Did it miss a high street full of places to stop? Could it have been safer? If the answers a "no" then it would be unfair to give it anything other than full marks. So in summary:
5 Marks - It couldn't be better (Pass)
4 Marks - It could be better (Pass)
3 Marks - It should be better (Pass)
2 Marks - It must be better (Fail)
1 Mark - It couldn't be worse (Fail)

Hi hi David,
Funnily enough, I’ve just read a similar post and agreed with Tonyleigh . Reading your post however, I realised that I’ve used the stars in the way that you’ve described above.

When I was out at the weekend I had a think about what makes a failure a "1" rather than a "2". I've decided that from now on, any routes I fail will get a "2" if they should have worked in theory or might in the future (eg footpath has become impassable). "1" will be reserved for the unsafe, extremely inconvenient or impossible
