Snail Watch
Could we start a discussion group on here to discuss routes which have two positive reviews? I'm aware of the first murmurings of co-ordinating efforts on Twitter but I feel this would be a better forum. By the way, I could see Longbridge being the first settlement with a snail for each route!

A great idea David! I’ve looked at routes in my region (Derbyshire/Nottinghamshire), and will be putting new routes to one side for the moment to verify ‘2 review’ routes.
Tomorrow I’ll be walking Belder One( Belper - Derby) and next week I want to walk Lonbee One, and Beenot One.
I stopped at 3 as it was a little hit and miss to find them, but I’ll look again and will log any others here.

It would appear our patches overlap. I've got my eye on Ashby - Melbourne, and have arranged to do it next weekend. I've noticed that Derby - Melbourne only needs one more review too (feel free). Maybe Derby might win the "Snail Race"!

I was planning to walk Alvechurch - Wythall - Birmingham (Birwyt needs a new route so I thought I'd walk it before submitting it). I then noticed that Lonalv is at two reviews so I've added Longbridge - Alvechurch at the start. Should be a good day's walking on Saturday!

FYI David, I’m based on the Derby/Nottingham border so all of my ‘local walks’ fall within their orbit. But I’ll let you know if I intend going for the Melder :) .

I live in Lichfield and can see the hills of South Derbyshire from my house. I've been trying to limit myself to routes I can get to in one public transport journey. This should limit me as far as Burton to the north east but I've recently discovered the joy of the Midland Classic all day bus ticket which covers South Staffs, Derbyshire and Leicestershire. There are some lovely walks!

😊 Now I have the 2 Nottingham routes in my sights as I can do both in a day.

Great stuff.
So, we're planning on creating a dashboard (and/or some pages) that will make it easier for us all to see which routes and areas need targeting... so we can better see the status of routes and also see the status of areas/regions.
Do you have any ideas or wishes? What would you like? What would be helpful?

On the Place page, you have the list of associated routes with crosses and ticks for surveys and reviews. Would it be possible to have the ticks replaced with the numbers of surveys/reviews completed?

I second Lynn's suggestion I would also add that it's useful to see how many approvals a route has had. I walked a route recently that a previous reviewer had given a 4 but had not approved it. Disappointing or what!

Lynn, Ashmel (Ashby De La Zouch to Melbourne) is one review away from a snail. I thought you might be interested.

Hi Lynn, thank you for your suggestion around the Place page. I'll feed it back to the team.
Best wishes,

Agreed. Traffic lights?
yellow snail - has been reviewed positively.
orange snail - 2 positive reviews.
Green Snail! - 3 positive reviews
Proper green sparkly snail - 3 positive reviews and surveyed !
You get the idea
Easily to see which routes that have / have not / need the final nudge

I like this traffic light scheme Antony! Universal and understandable. The one thing I might disagree with is the sparkly surveyed route as I think keeping the survey process separate from the review is a good thing. The current survey symbol supplies information that might be lost in the sparkle.

The sparkles were a bit tongue in cheek, however an indication that a route has been surveyed is important I think especially for those with needs that are not always mentioned in reviews, e.g. dogs, buggies, animals wheelchairs etc. Perhaps a different boarder to the box. A thick rather than thin line would be sufficient for those looking for it to know that this route has additional information without detracting from the core meaning.
