Ashwir has beaten me :(
I was plagued by lost footpaths, dismantled/lost stiles and electrified fences and just ran out of time for completing the route. With detours and retraced steps I made about 1 mph and only managed to get as far as Hognaston.
I will write up the survey put the narrative description in the review but if anyone wants to learn from my mistakes I will happily send them my gpx track and share the geolocation of all photos I took today.
And from the ashes possibly a new route will be born! :)

It sounds similar to the only Slow Way that made me give up and that was Alrswa (one and two!), which I attempted from the Swadlincote end. I got home and reworked the route from scratch.. except it wasn't because the Alrewas end was all fine (all three versions agreed on it) it was the Swadlincote end that needed a complete rethink. The following weekend I tried out the new version and it was a hit. Do you think you might redraw it?

I will David, I’ll redo for Ashwir Two, but I’ll leave the route Wirksworth - Hognaston as is.

Ashwir One has been written up and Ashwir Two uploaded. I might even tackle it again!

Good luck with that! On a separate subject I've noticed that Derby - Melbourne, despite having two reviews, has only one approval. I know you had concerns about walking a section at the Derby end so it's definitely one for the back burner. Saying that, I've got in the diary to walk it in a couple of weeks time.

Just to clarify, it wasn’t Lynn who raised concerns about the Dermel route, it was really me that mentioned in a post the review of Dermel which had suggested taking care in a park in Derby, with the route also not having been verified, apparently due to safety. That posting about the Dermel review was in the topic : Slow Ways Ideas > 24x7 Routes, which Lynn initiated and which was largely about Derbor, which goes through the same park.

I think that I was a bit windy about Derbor. I do intend walking it in the near future.
After Ashbourne I have a new found respect for my local routes.
