Glasgow - George Square
I think the meeting place in Glasgow should be moved to George Square

I'm testing routes here, and it feels like a proper destination, somewhere that shows Glasgow is a major city in the UK. Imagine if in a few years we have a Slow Ways signpost in George Square - would be fab! In addition, Queen Street station is also on the square, the bus station is just up the road, and Central station is nearby.
The current Glasgow MP is a street corner (albeit with a nice statue) on the unfashionable side of the Central railway station. No benches, nothing very special at all, I feel it lacks confidence and the connectivity is poor relative to George Square.

George Square would get my vote. In addition to the points you make, it's also handier for the underground.

Thanks David! I'm always trying to tweak to make things better!!

I'd agree with George Square too. It's also the site of quite a few events such as the Christmas market etc.

I'd forgotten about the Christmas Market. You could put the meeting point where they erect the seasonal German beer tent, or the bratwurst stall! I also have images of people getting on the carousel "because this is where the meeting point is". On a serious point though, seasonal events are something to bear in mind in terms of where the actual meeting point should be.

That's such a lovely image of starting a Slow Way from a slow carousel. Thinking about the seasonal events it might be good to have the meeting point to the north west corner of the square. Then it would be safer from any barriers that get put up for events and it's also on a direct route from the Queen Street station. Or maybe in the middle of the edge opposite North Hanover Street?

I like the suggestion of middle of edge opposite North Hanover Street - around where the tall Christmas tree decoration is.

Yes, and it's got the tall plinth behind it as another great pointer to the location.
