Y Drenewydd/Newtown - Trefaldwyn/Montgomery - Newmon one
The section of this route between Trefaldwyn/Montgomery and Llandysul/Llandyssil is problematic as the owners of the farm at Gwern yr ychain will not allow walkers across their yard. This in effect prevents any of the several footpaths on either side of the farm from joining up. An alternative is to go from Trefaldwyn/Montgomery to Town Hill and then to come onto the lane at Cefnllan and from there down the hill into Llandysul.

Are you able to submit a new version or do you need someone else to do it?

Not yet worked out how to amend it. Haven't had time to look properly at how it works.

Is the farmer blocking designated footpaths? Is a report to the local authority access officer warranted?

Like so many footpaths, when the ones surrounding this farm were logged, the route through the farm wasn't. This has been an ongoing battle for a number of years. The council has offered to route the paths around the main farm area, put all new gates and signs up at no cost to the owners, and even pay an annual fee, but the owners raised two fingers to the council.

Lynn no obstruction of recorded paths but it sounds like a lost way for the Ramblers to investigate. See 1910 Finance Act maps. Also a judgement - The end of a public footpath must either be at another highway or at a place of popular resort (Moser v Ambleside Urban District Council [1925] 89 JP 118).
If HA have been negotiating they should be aware of all possible evidence but they don't always follow that route to resolve issues. Why is this issue not highlighted in a review to avoid anyone attempting to walk the route? I have two other routes that should get around the problem althouth both use ORPAs (other routes with public access).

An alternative route has been added which is along connecting rights of ways but it's untested on the ground.

I have walked the new route before. It's ok, does the job but a nicer route would be from Montgomery - Town Hill - Castell y gwynt - Cefnllan - Llandysul. All properly signposted footpaths and no need to go anywhere near the grumpy beggars at Gwern yr ychain.
The reason I know these paths is because I currently live in Llandysul and walk them regularly.0 -
Great team work on Newmon one. It would be great if Newmon one could have a review on it to let others know the issue. It sounds as though it's an access issue and there isn't a path where the Slow Way thought there was one. If this is the case please let us know and we can remove Newmon one from the network.
Best wishes,
