    Hello,

Thanks for asking this question.  I've taken a look and I think they are two different Slow Ways although it's a bit confusing.  Kirkrai one is between Kirkby and Rainford and is close to Liverpool https://beta.slowways.org/Route/Kirkrai/3346.  Kirrai two is between Kirkby-in-Ashfield and Rainworth in Nottinghamshire https://beta.slowways.org/Route/Kirrai/5011.

    I hope that this helps.

    Best wishes,
    Cristie

Ah but, kirrai2 and kirkrain1 both mentioned Kirkby in Ashfield and Rainworth in Nottinghamshire!

Oh, I had missed the n off Kirkrain in my searching.  You're quite right they are the same places with two Slow Ways names.  I can even see the different versions on each of the pages when I select to view Routes.  I'll find out how we can sort it and let you know.

    Best wishes,
    Cristie

In the same part of the world.... Mansfield is sometimes 'man' and sometimes 'mans', whereas Mansfield Woodhouse (which is close and shares linked places) is always 'man'. Can they be standardised so that 'mans' is always one of them, and 'man' the other ?

Thanks for sharing the Mansfield examples too.  The naming strategy is to take the first three letters of the western most place and then add the first three letters of the eastern most place.  So normally the names are six letters.  However, this has led to a few duplicates and triplicates of Slow Way names.  In those cases amendments had to made adding in fourth letters.  This might be why Mansfield is sometimes 'man' and sometimes 'mans'.  Kirrai and Kirkrain though is something different and a duplication of sorts.

I hope this helps explain them.
