Choice of routes vs clogging up the network
I've identified a few routes around York that I know from local knowledge could have more direct alternatives suggested, though this may mean prioritising being "direct" over being "off-road".
In the guidance for creating new routes I see a request that we do not clog up the network with lots of alternative routes; however, in the discussion on this forum we seem to be encouraged to upload a variety of routes and let the community decide.
Shall I just go for it and wait for the reviews to (hopefully) flood in?

Hello,
Thanks so much for taking a look at these routes and considering alternatives. Your local knowledge is really valuable and so I would say that by creating alternative routes you wouldn't be clogging up the network. Especially as I can see that you've walked and reviewed a number of the existing routes - thank you.
What I would suggest is to only make the more direct ones where there is a real saving in distance and time and to also flag it in the route description as the more direct one and that because it's more direct it involves quite a lot of pavement walking by the side of a road. How does that sound to you?
Best wishes,

Yes, that sounds absolutely right Cristie. I'll upload and describe them and let people decide for themselves.
Thanks for the guidance.
